Carl Brookes

Carl has over 20 years of engineering experience in a range of industries, including defence, oil & gas and software engineering, with 15 years as a senior MEP Services and Environmental Engineer.

He graduated in Mathematical Physics from the University of Nottingham and, after industry experience, pursued an MSc in Energy, Environment & Buildings. Previously a partner at Max Fordham, he gained practical project experience in electrical, mechanical, and environmental engineering while working on MEP designs for a variety of projects, including the award-winning Urban Nature Project at the Natural History Museum, London. More recently, he has been helping Churchill College plot its pathway to net-zero by 2035 and is assisting with the delivery of the first project in a programme of projects, the refurbishment of West Court, with construction commencing in summer 2026.

Carl enjoys projects that balance architectural individuality and creativity with low-carbon approaches to fabric, environmental design, and building service systems. He has developed a focus on simple, strong visual communication to facilitate collaboration with clients and stakeholders and help them make the right decisions for the best project outcomes.
